I just purchased a used 96 Savage in mint condition (4000 miles). I'm 37 and this is my first bike.
I love the bike, but was a little worried about the backfiring at first. Then I found
this page and all the great information you guys have posted. After riding the bike
for the first week, the backfiring has decreased dramatically. Probably just needed
the cobbs blown out. I've already ordered a Supertrapp exhaust so I can experience what
you all are talking about. Anyway, I bought this bike as a starter with plans to move up to
something bigger and better later. I don't know how big of a hurry I'll be in to change now,
this ones pretty cool. Once again, thanks you guys and gals for all the great info, and as
I gain experience I hope I'll have something to add.
